Here are ways you can help the New Orleans music community:
What musicians need most is work. Urge music venues in your area to hire New Orleans musicians. Create a volunteer network to house the musicians when they visit your area.

A barrier to employing musicians is the cost of housing. Finding local temporary housing makes it more feasible to find gigs. We're building a list of people who are willing to provide temporary housing for visiting musicians.
You can find them at the Louisiana Music Factory http://www.louisianamusicfactory.com
"Bent But Not Broken" T-shirts are for sale at Tower Records and online at: http://www.indiemerchstore.com/bentnotbroken
All proceeds go to the outreach programs of the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic.
The NOMC is a grass-roots, comprehensive health-care service created in 1998 to sustain New Orleans musicians in mind, body, and soul. In the wake of hurricane Katrina, they have expanded their mission. Of course, any type of support they could get from medical companies would be welcome, as well as financial donations.
You can find out about the clinic and make (tax deductable) credit-card donations at www.neworleansmusiciansclinic.org/.
You can make tax-deductable checks payable to:
